James H Storrs , CT February 15, 2015 Appliance: General Electric Electric Range JTP11WS2WG Broken hinge on wall oven door Pulled out the oven. Which was tough since the installer had used drywall screws to hold it in the cabinet. Set up a portable workbench to stand the oven on, allowing access on all three sides of the oven. Removed the metal heat shield panels on all sides, keeping track of the screws and sizes. Removed second layer panels on sides to access the hinges on either side (replacing in pairs, as advised in GE manual). Removed broken hinge, and the other one, replaced them with new ones. Watch your fingers on the mechanism, which can snap closed. Re-assembled the covers, tested the oven and the door. Took the door off again to set the oven back in the cabinet, since the door itself is very heavy. Slid the oven back in place in the cabinet without screwing it in place. The oven is heavy enough and sits on a level shelf panel in an exactly sized cavity, so there's no danger of it falling out.
