Description

The Bucket and auger Assembly is an OEM part for GE refrigerators. It is located inside the freezer and contains the storage bucket for ice production along with the gear-driven auger mechanism. The auger works continuously during the freezing process, pushing ice cubes from the evaporator plate into the storage bucket for easy access through the dispensing door. 

Causes of a bad bucket and auger assembly can include worn or damaged gears that impair proper rotation of the auger, cracks or leaks in the storage bucket compromising food storage, or frozen components preventing mechanical function. 

Symptoms of failure include:

• Inconsistent or no ice production  
• Jammed or stuck auger mechanism
• Cracked or leaking ice bucket
• Ice cubes not dispensing from the storage area
