Ge WB25X10030 Microwave Light Bulb OEM Part

Tried to turn the microwave on, checked the outlet for power, check the breaker to see if it was tripped, all was in order. Removed the over the range microwave and pull the covers, Tested continuity with a multimeter for each of the 4 normally closed thermostats, found 2 bad (open). The upper 110 and the lower right 70. Ordered the needed parts as well as both lamp sockets and bulbs as they where broken too. The parts where correct and where delivered on time. (Also, in your tools needed or used below, there should be a multimeter / voltmeter as a selection.) Diagnosing and repairing any type of an electrical component should not be attempted without using and knowing how to use a multimeter properly.

Simple install to replace socket. 1st, unplug power so you do not short out the wiring harness. Just take out 6 screws underneath the microwave unit, swing down and unplug harness. Unscrew 2 screws holding it in. Added dielectric grease to new socket and bulb. Plug harness back in the same order it was removed. Uses 40 watt bulbs.

15-minute repair, Disconnected power., dropped the bottom of the microwave, removed 7 screws. Disconnect the wires to the socket. Unscrewed socket replaced socket. Reconnected wires and replaced bulb. Replaced bottom.

Replaced bulb. One note is that I read that sometimes people reported that the bulb had been attached to the socket with a bit of glue by the manufacturer, causing the bulb glass to break away from the base when turning it to remove. I found no glue on my GE microwave surface light bulb and the bulb unscrewed easily as you might expect. No problem.
