Kevin C Dallas , TX August 24, 2014 Appliance: General Electric Dishwasher PDWT380R10SS Start button quit working but all others buttons still worked Opened up door panel, unplugged ribbon cable from old keypad and plugged in new keypad without installing just to verify keypad was the problem. Start button on new keypad worked so I then removed old keypad which is basically just like peeling off a sticker. Next step was to remove leftover adhesive using solvent. This was most time consuming step of the repair. Once adhesive was removed I cleaned the mounting surface thoroughly to ensure new keypad would adhere. I then passed ribbon cable through the door, plugged it in and adhered new keypad to mounting surface. Problem solved... I ordered the part - by the way, it was an OEM part that AppliancePartsPros had at a much better price than I could find anywhere else. It arrived the following day, and I had the old one out and new one in-place in about 20 minutes. I saved the $99 repair service charge, about $50 on the price difference of the part and likely an hour labor...anywhere from $50-$100. Just unscrew the screws along the sides, top and bottom of the door. Unplug the electrical connection and remove the old touch pad. Clean the sticky surface and install the new pad in reverse order.
