John M Homer Glen , IL May 21, 2016 Appliance: General Electric Refrigerator PSC23PSTBSS Ge profile fridge temperature not stable/fans ran constant In the past the temperature would change from one day to the next, remain constant for weeks then start rising again. Would unplug for 5 – 10 min and adjust temp and would work fine. Now Refrigerator compressor will not shut off (has been running for the last 3 days) temps are 26F on freezer side and 43F on food compartment side. Checked evaporator and it has a great deal of frost on it but not frozen. Checked for continuity on the defroster heater and thermostat by going through the motherboard they both have continuity. Also checked the thermister it measured about 20 ohms. Pulled the defroster heater just to make sure it had continuity it checked ok. Asked Appliance Parts Pro this question; I think I’ve covered all the bases but my dilemma is I want to make sure that I need a new motherboard WR49X10152 before proceeding. What is your professional opinion? Joe from Appliance Parts Pro followed up with some additional possible areas to check. I did purchase a new mother board from appliance parts pro on Monday arrived Wed and installed it already. I t appears that did the trick, motors not running on high anymore compressor is cycling and food compartment fan runs at low speed and temp is remaining constant. I will cross my fingers and hope that everything is working properly (only time will tell). Tools required: Nut driver, screw driver, long nose pliers and multi meter. Trouble shooting/repair approx. 1 hr. Replacement of mother board took less than 10 min. Great videos on the internet to assist in repairs. Thanks Joe, for the follow up and the manual Read More... 10 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers, Pliers, Screwdrivers
