Ge WB01X10321 Nut Chamfered OEM Part

I repaired a GE monogram 36” gas cooktop.ZGU375NDS1SS My problem was the sparking that wouldn’t shut off, so I needed to replace two ignitor switches, (GE part number WB24X10091 and WB24X10092. The switches are under the gas valve and you have to take all the burners apart to get to the pieces. Do the job in this order: Remove the knobs and the gray rubber circles below them. Save them, they are dirt guards to keep food out of your switches. Remove the phillips head screws under the knobs. Two of these screws actually fastened the top to the cooktop metal base cabinet. Remove the tops of all 5 burners. There is a large brass nut under each burner ( GE part number WB01X10321-“nut, chamfered” ). Use a socket wrench to remove the brass nut . Use a socket because it places equal pressure on all 6 sides. Other wise you may distort the brass nut and it will be difficult to put back together. Don’t squeeze with a pliers. Next there is a brass tube (called a “venturi- chamfered” by GE part number wb38X10080) that goes through the middle of the burner. Unscrew it carefully. Again with a socket. Be gentle with this part as it is brass threaded into aluminum or cast metal . In my repair, one of the chamfered venturi’s was stuck in the main gas jet holder. I had to use a dremel tool to grind down the brass enough to be able remove the aluminum circle burner base below it. Important note on the “venturi’chamfered” this part is not shown in the diagram. I had to find it on another stove . It’s a good thing that appliancepartspros.com will take back parts you don’t need. Once you have all 5 burners disassembled, you should be able to raise the cooktop enough and hold it up slightly in front to access the switches on the gas valve. A cookbook works good to prop it up. You shouldn’t have to disconnect each burner’ s sparker , there is enough wire to allow you to raise the cooktop. There is a 7/32” snap ring on the gas valve shaft, remove it carefully. If it flies across the room like mine did, head to the hardware store and get a replacement snap ring or cir-clip from those little drawers full of parts. Install the new switch (es) and put the burners back together. Put the phillips screws in first to help line everything up ( under gas valve knobs) , then put the burners back together , venture tubes loosely at first , then after all are lined up, hand tighten and install the nuts. I also had to replace the 3/8 aluminum gas line to the middle burner. That was the easiest part of the fix. replacing this cooktop costs over $1,300 so it was definitely worth the hassle to go the extra mile and dremel out the brass venturi tube that was stuck in the main jet holder. Patience paid off here. all in all, parts cost about $200.00 so i'm happy
