Cynthia B Waukesha , WI January 06, 2015 Appliance: Model JB400GJ3 (YEAR 1987) The baking element on our 28 year old oven decided to quit on new year's eve while preheating we heard a loud crackling pop which was the element shorting out it bubbled and started smoking Of course, these things always seem to happen on a holiday! Luckily we were not having guests for dinner - so quickly changed our eating plans for the evening. I went directly online and Googled "Bake elements for GE ovens". At first I did not think I would have luck finding this part because of the oven's age. AppliancePartsPros.com was one of the service dealers listed first and catered specifically to GE appliances and parts. So, I typed in the Model number and low and behold, a screen of specific replacement parts was quickly presented. I was able to order the part on Wednesday, 12/31 at 4:30 p.m. and by Saturday the replacement element was delivered to our door. If not for the New Years Day holiday, I am sure it would have arrived on Friday. Meanwhile, we watched the repair video provided on your Web site which was super helpful as it gave great visual instruction showing almost our exact oven, and important tips like not letting the wires fall back into the insulation. We were also able to read helpful and reassuring reviews from others who dealt with the same issue. Within 15 minutes, my husband had the part installed and tested. We are so thrilled with Appliance Parts Pro! The proper part arrived in tact, quickly and with helpful online instructions - all contributing to a successful repair! The best part is, because of Appliance Parts Pro, we did not have to research the purchase of a new stove/oven and my husband was able to finally able to enjoy that dessert! What at first seemed like major problem for finding a part, turned in to being a very easy fix saving us $$$'s by not having to purchase a new appliance and a lot of aggravation in tracking a part for the quarter century old item. We like to buy quality household goods and then take care of those items to prolong their life span and avoid costly replacements. In this age of disposable everything, it was extremely refreshing to have the resources from Appliance Parts Pros available. Thank you so much! We will certainly recommend your company and/or use you in the future if needed. Garett N Lubbock , TX May 06, 2016 Appliance: Model JMS07001HA Oven would not heat and oven light wouldn't work Tested the power to the unit by turning on the cooktop portion and saw that I had power to all of the burners. Turned the selector knob to broil and saw that the top element would heat up. I then turned off the breaker to the unit. I then decided to take out the baking element to do a continuity test. When I touched it, a 1.5 inch section fell out. Since that concluded my continuity test, I assumed I needed a baking element. After receiving the parts the NEXT DAY (amazingly great service from Appliance Parts Pros), I replaced the element after watching the helpful video. After turning the breaker back on, tested the element and it began heating as it is supposed to. As I stated above, the light also didn't work, so I had ordered a lamp cover and retainer when I ordered the element. It took a minute or so to change those out, replacing the bulb in the process solved the light issue. My sister-in-law called me a couple of hours later and said that she was enjoying watching her oven cook a great supper and I am her Hero! The only thing I would add is that our unit is a 40 year old GE Mark 27 unit. The video used a standard oven range that was much newer. The repairman in the video simply unplugged the wires from the baking element. In my unit there was a screw that attached the wire to each blade on the element. It was a pain in the neck simply because of the position you have to stay in to have both arms at the back of the oven performing this feat. If you have this same situation, my recommendation is to do a test run putting the new screws into the holes in the blades BEFORE you try it inside the oven. This cleans out the threads and makes it much easier to attach it inside the oven with very short wires and not much room to work. Hope this helped! Janice C Piney Flats , TN October 11, 2016 Appliance: General Electric Electric Range JBS18GS1 We needed a new oven heating element My 1997 GE Range, model JBS18GS1, needed a new baking element, WB44X5082. I found it easily on Appliance Parts Pros using the parts diagrams. It arrived within a few days. My husband quickly installed it. It’s important to disconnect the electricity before this repair. For us there was no need to pull out the stove from the wall. After removing the bottom pots and pans drawer he had easy access to the power cord. I lifted off the oven door and gave him a flashlight so he could see the area he was repairing. With the power disconnected the little oven light bulb doesn’t work to light the oven. A small hex screwdriver and a slotted screwdriver were the tools he needed to remove the old element and attach the new element. He used some adhesive tape to temporarily tape down the wires that come in from the little hole in the back of the stove so they wouldn’t accidentally slip back into the hole. Those wires are to be attached to the new element. If they slip back into the hole it would be very difficult to find them. After the repair we also discovered the little three inch in diameter metal plate that is called a vent baffle or an oven heat shield had corroded and rusted off. It is located on the ceiling of the oven near the light. It vents excess heat out the of the oven through the rear stove top element. Since GE doesn’t make these anymore, my husband fashioned one with a pair of tin snips from a piece of sheet metal using the original as a pattern. This was a quick repair. Additional note, the element has little wire "feet" that must be down when installing. Be careful not to install it upside down. The feet hold the element aloft so it doesn't touch the oven floor.
