Ge WR08X10096 Compressor Overload (Start Device) OEM Part

This was easier then I made it. Originally took the actual ice maker out without removing the whole system from the door. There are 3 silver screws that do that hold the whole mechanism in place, as opposed to the 5 white screws that hold the ice maker in place. With the entire assembly out it was a matter of routing the ground wire, retaping the wires, and then the whole assembly went back into the door without a problem. Need a phillips and a flat screwdriver, I also found a needle nose pliers made getting one of the screws in place easier. Overall a pretty simple swap. Waiting to enjoy some ice now.

Most advice on Internet said the clicking noise could be from a broken PTC relay, which struggled to start the compressor. Replacing the PTC relay, the OLP (overload protector), maybe even the capacitor, could fix the problem. I took out the relay and the OLP, tested them. They were OK. Upon further inspection, the suspect seemed to be the ice maker. The ice maker was taken out (after removing freezer baskets that were in the way). The clicking sound disappeared (been 24 hours now). (Side bar: Error codes "88"showed up after plugging in the electricity, which is nowhere to be found in the Owner's Manual. One place said it's the circuit board or electricity problem. Tried reset, not working. … Finally pushed left-most and right-most buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds, error codes "88" disappeared.)
