Dave F Painesville , OH November 10, 2015 Appliance: General Electric Refrigerator TBX18TAYBRAD Cooling fan runs but compressor tries to start and kicks out I read alot of blogs about the same similar symptom, but none described by exact problem. I kept reading how the compressor relay would make a click noise or sisal. I also found out the overload switch could cause a like symptom. The end result being that upon removal of the relay, it was discolored and made a rattling noise when shook. The overload switch was heat cracked on the plastic and looked like it had had enough. This was easily accomplished by using the repair mans print out for the wiring, that was attached to the rear cover of the fridge. A nut driver and flat blade screwdriver did the job. Needed the vacuum also to clean the coils out too. After installing both parts and cleaning up. I plugged the fridge back in and it jumped to life. I would say that the fridge runs better and is more efficiently working. This whole process took about 30 minutes total.I want to thank all the people that took the time to reply back to this web site and tell there stories. I also want to thank all the professional and technical advise found on this web site by the repair people that fix this stuff. John H Litle Rock , AR September 21, 2014 Appliance: Model 3638791582 Clicking noise and frequent cycling of compressor on older kenmore fridge Did some research on the Internet and observed the fridge. Symptoms pointed to a bad compressor start relay. Got a new one from from AppliancePartsPros. When I removed the old one and shook it, I could hear loose parts inside, which matched the online troubleshooting info. With the new relay, fridge appears to operate normally. The old relay cover was broken in pieces, which I didn't notice previously, so I'll have to order one later on. Very satisfied with price and service from AppliancePartsPros.
