This is in a 15 year old Built-in Monogram that had the compressor replaced a few years ago. Before discovering the motor failure I replaced the main board since a Refrigeration Contractor I know said that if it wasn't bad it would be soon since those parts typically only last around eight years. The motor replacement is pretty simple; more time is spent getting to the motor and re-assembling everything than actually changing the motor. The trickiest part is getting the fan set correctly on the motor and getting the new retaining ring in place. Tiny pliers or surgical pliers help there, otherwise a Phillips screwdriver is all that is needed. After replacement give the unit 24 hours to stabilize. It's a pretty simple fix. I'm keeping a close eye on the temperature. I have a feeling the deicing pan is failing and ice build up is part of the reason the fan failed. At this point I'm pretty confident I can do at least as well as the "Certified" repair people who have come out and never run through any diagnostics while charging a lot just to show up and do basically nothing...
