Timothy P Wales , WI December 13, 2016 Appliance: General Electric Electric Range ZVC30L1SS Fan did not turn on most time sometimes light button turned on fan Fan buttons worked only sometimes and once in a while also interacted with light buttons. Not much troubleshooting help available and not clear to me at first that there was a circuit board in the switch box. Based on this behavior I ordered a Main Board. Main board did not fix it, so I called in and ordered up the Switch box which fixed the problem. Returned the Main Board for credit. Phone support was helpful for the return, but not for troubleshooting. Replacing the switch box is electrically simple with a phone jack connection, mechanically you need to remove the inside edge bracket and then reach in and loosen 4 knobs inside the cover that hold it in place. A phillips head is all you need,, but a light and small mirror help. Replacing main board requires a bit more physical contortion. 2 of the plugs inside can go in alternate adjacent locationa, so take a picture and make a note. There is a power switch inside the hood, 4 screws on the cover and only 1 that secures the board. Magnetic phillips screwdriver helps a lot. You will need a nut driver for the green/yellow ground wire. Not sure it was metric but 7mm was the closest thing I had that worked. The screw goes through the board, a power transistor base and a wire lug. A bit of a tight fit and hard to get purchase on the nut. Overall, a lamp or headlight helps. Slightly difficult due to awkward location. Read More... 17 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers, Screwdrivers
