Ge WB24X29364 Cooktop Infinite Switch OEM Part

Ordered the element control for my dual front right burner and a infinite heat switch for my left front large single burner. Removed cooktop and followed the instructions video given with the parts online. Process was simple and everything on my cooktop is working like it is brand new. The only problem I have is with the online chat, save time by calling in and talking to someone as the people I talked to online (4 of them) are in such a hurry to get to the next call they gave conflicting part #'s. I called in and the person who helped me double checked the parts before sending them out and she also had a research team person call me to make sure they were the correct parts. I found this website and started looking for the parts needed. There were some installation videos that were very helpful. I ended up on a live chat with a representative and he helped a lot. He helped me find the right parts, order them, and he got them to me in less than 48 hours. I installed the parts and everything is working fine. I wish I knew about appliancepartspros.com when my fridge went down a few months ago. I will definitely be back in the future.

Replaced the control switch for that hot plate with a new one. Success.

I watched a video on how to disassemble a GE cooktop. This involved shutting off the circuit breaker, propping the cooktop up above the counter, unscrewing the ceramic cooktop (I had to drill out one of the screws which had corroded), using a putty knife to break the glue seal all the way around, and separating the cooktop from the base. Breaking the glue/tape seal was a real pain -- I'm not sure why they chose to build them this way. The next hurdle was figuring out the wiring, since the new part was labelled differently and the schematic in my cooktop had different-colored wires than the unit itself. I managed to figure it out using the schematic and tracing where the wires went. The new switch worked fine and reassembly was relatively easy.

I purchased a WB24X29364; the newer, compatible control. This control has the spade connectors on the side - the original part has the connectors on the bottom. I could not get the wires to relocate to the side connectors, so I had to rotate the control 90 deg to makes things fit. Fortunately my wife is prepared to live with that till I get an exact replacement WB23K5052. I deduced the original problem was the Black connector - it looked different from the others and I think it had been heating up, so I squeezed the female spade connector with pliers to get a snug fit. I found the YouTube video very useful. My concern had been removing the unit for repair, but it turnout the installer had made an accurate hole in the counter-top and secured it with silicon bathtub caulk
