Mitchell S Wellington , FL October 26, 2015 Appliance: Model GE MONOGRAM Trash compactor stuck in down position The compactor motor would run and gears and chain that I could see by taking the back cover off all moved but the ram stayed down, no movement at all. Because the ram was down I could not open the door to look at the front and get a look at the wiring to the switches. I was able to unbolt the back of the motor/ram and loosen it enough to open the door partway and then unbolt the front bolts and drop the motor. Once all the wires were detached (take pictures of the attachments, multiple angles) I got the door open and could easily see the shattered trunnion nut, which was plastic. I ordered the nut from ApliancePartsPros.com and it arrived the next day. It came with a diagram and was metal, not plastic like original. Much better. Put in easily and a few wiring mistakes to figure out and all works well. Barbara K Prescott , AZ August 23, 2014 Trash compactor stopped working Pulled out the compactor. Husband identified what he thought the problem was. I ordered the part from Appliance Parts Pros which turned out to be a better part than the plastic part that was in the Monogram compactor. Husband put it back together and it works fine now.
