Larry W Indian Wells , CA June 06, 2019 Appliance: General Electric Refrigerator ZIBS240PASS The waterline to the under counter refrigerator ice maker was cracked from heat at the spring clamp holding the waterline to the valve Turned off the cold water at the sink, removed the lower back panel. Removed the old valve by first cutting the 1/4" tubing midway for some slack. Removed the screws from the old valve, and removed the water supply line from the valve. Removed the metal tape at the back indented cutout, and peeled back the insulation. Since the end of the 1/4" tubing had an angled piece with self sticking tape that went thru the wall of the frig, the angled piece needed to be pried off. Cleaned off any remaining residue from the self sticking angled piece. The installation was relatively easy. Removed the paper covering the self sticking tape and installed through the wall of the frig. Reinstalled the screws in the valve, and the screws in the lower back plate. Hooked up the water supply line, and turned on the water valve at the sink to leak test at the supply line. Waited for the ice maker to call for water, and checked the connection at the refer wall for leaks. The cutout being indented, had foam filler pieces that had come loose, so used a spray adhesive to reinstall the foam. Also used the adhesive spray to form the flexible metal insulation backing back in place. Used a metal tape to seal the metal edges of the cutout. Read More...
