Description

This is a cap assembly designed for gas string trimmers. The cap assembly is installed at the base of the trimmer's drive shaft, over the spool real. It is responsible for the advancement of the trimmer line in the spool when hit against the ground and also serves to protect the spooled trimmer line from dust and debris. The cap is made of durable plastic and is meant to absorb shock from the ground. However, over time, the threads on the cap's interior may become worn out. Blows from hard surfaces like asphalt and concrete may cause the cap to weaken and even break. A cap that fails to remain in place or is significantly damaged needs to be replaced.The installation of a new cap assembly is easy. First, remove the old cap assembly. The use of an adjustable wrench or vice grips might be necessary depending on the old cap's threading.
