This is an element cleaner that is used on several string trimmers and hedge trimmers manufactured by Tanaka. The element cleaner is a part that attaches to the air cleaner cover. The purpose of the element cleaner is to filter out dirt, dust, and debris before it can reach the carburetor and the engine. Through use, the element cleaner can become clogged and no longer offer sufficient airflow. When this occurs, the element cleaner will need to be replaced. It's a good idea to inspect the element cleaner on a regular basis for damage or clogging.If the element cleaner is damaged or dirty, it should be replaced. The only tools required for the replacement are a pair of work gloves and a screwdriver. The filter cover will need to be unscrewed to get access to the element cleaner.
