Description

This is a starter spring designed to work with different chainsaw models. It works with the starter and is responsible for recoiling the starter string during engine start-up. When the user pulls the string out, it turns the starter assembly to crank the engine, and then the spring engages in rewinding the string. While the starter spring is made from metal, it will eventually sustain wear and tear-related damage. Metal can lose its springiness, or the spring may become bent or fouled through frequent use. If the starter string does not recoil when cranking the chainsaw, or only retracts part of the way, then the starter spring should be replaced. Replacing the starter spring will require a screwdriver to open the engine housing, and a pair of needle-nose pliers to remove the old spring. Install the new spring carefully – it comes pre-coiled.
