Description

This oil pickup is a component used in chainsaws to move oil between the oil pump and the tank. One end of the pickup screws or bolts onto the oil pump, while the other end has a strainer. There is a mesh screen on the strainer to remove large particles from the oil while moving oil to the pump. All oil that goes into the pump will need to move through the oil pickup first. If there is no oil flowing to the bar of the chainsaw, this indicates there is a problem and it may need to be replaced.The screen that filters out debris helps prevent items from getting into the tubing to cause a clog. As time goes on, the rubber elbow of the oil pickup can start to get hard and may begin to crack. If this occurs, the bar oiler will not be able to continue pumping oil to the bar.
