Description
A piston ring is a component located between a piston and a cylinder and helps the engine operate correctly. This component maintains gas compression between the cylinder wall and piston, makes lubricating oil to prevent scuffing, transfers heat from the crown of the piston to the cylinder, and prevents the piston from hitting the cylinder wall. There are several signs that a piston ring needs to be replaced. Excessive smoke may come out of the engine, oil may be used more rapidly, and your equipment might have a decreased performance without the power it used to have. If the engine is still in good shape, but the rings have lost their tension, replacing the piston ring is the best solution.
