Description

This worm gear spring is located on a chainsaw's engine crankshaft. It engages a gear in the oil pump, which causes the pump to transfer oil to the chain and bar on the equipment. If no oil is coming out of the chainsaw's oiler, this can be an indication that it needs to be replaced.Sometimes the worm gear spring can slip on the crankshaft, which will cause it to wear down. As time goes on, the problem can worsen until the worm gear no longer rotates at all. To replace the part, remove the clutch cover assembly, bar and chain assembly, and clutch drum. Take off the clutch assembly, front handle, and chain brake assembly.
