Kyle B Baltimore , MD January 27, 2015 Front loader leaking from front and bottom I think it was leaking both from the front and the bottom somehow. The boot seal was pretty cruddy anyways so I figured even if it was wrong, it was time to replace. You basically had to take the entire washing machine top and front off. This takes a little bit of time and organization but is relatively easy. While you are doing all this you might as well clean all the filters and make sure none of the valves and tubes are leaking. Getting it apart was pretty easy. The hard part is putting the two clamps back on, particularly the bigger back one. Be careful if you are ordering new clamps to realize that there are two different sizes. The bigger back one is IMPOSSIBLE to get on without the spring expansion tool. I called multiple hardware stores and no one ever heard of it. It was like $70 online which seemed too expensive for a DIY (esp. when I already spent $70 on the boot and clamp). I didn't really need a new clamp, so I used the spring from it and was able to do a work around and use the two springs together to get the back clamp on. This is what was time consuming and frustrating. It's a little loose but I think should be fine. If you want to do the job 100% properly you need the spring expansion tool. There are no leaks now! Gregory W Summerville , SC October 22, 2016 Appliance: LG Washer WM1814CW Bad vibration and clunking sound Replaced the spider arm assembly. I found the instructional videos extremely helpful. The parts arrived quickly. This is a very in-depth job so make sure you label and keep the parts and screws separated as you remove them. The only big problem I ran into was removing the old spider arm assembly. I ended up striping two of the bolts and had to drill them out. That was very time consuming. I also replaced the bearing while I had everything apart. Getting the inner bearing in place was a little difficult but with patients not impossible. Read More... Laura W Pendleton , OR October 31, 2014 Appliance: Model LG WM1812 Cracked door and leaky gasket My father in law helped me and in about 2 hours we were able to take the machine apart far enough to get the gasket off. Putting the new gasket on wasn't bad; getting the clamp on was a challenge! Definitely a two person job!! The rests wasn't bad at all. My appliance guy said I wouldn't want to have to replace the gasket because the necessary tool alone was $80. It took some time and I needed a second set of hands for the clamps, but I was one pretty pleased mama when I was able to do this myself. I figure it saved me at least $100 if not more. Read More...
