Nathan M St. George , UT July 27, 2019 Appliance: LG Dishwasher LDF8874ST Ne error code dirty silverware in upper third rack and door broken off soap dispenser. I ordered a new vario motor and a soap dispenser. I turned off the water and the breaker, disconnected the water line and the power at the front base of the unit, disconnected the drain hose from the garbage dispenser, and pulled out the dishwasher and laid it on a blanket on its face. I unscrewed and removed the plainly visible vario motor on the bottom of the machine and removed the cam from the shaft. I then used a needle nose plier to carefully turn the D-shaft on the new motor to exactly match the position of the old motor. I put the cam onto the new motor and screwed it back into place. Then, I reinstalled the electric and water to the dishwasher and reinstalled it into the cabinet. To replace the soap dish, I opened the door of the dishwasher and unscrewed all the perimeter screws except the two immediately adjacent to the latch, which I correctly guessed were holding the latch, not the door. The door face fell away but remained attached at the base. I detached two electrical cables and undid six screws in two brackets holding the soap dispenser in place. The old dispenser fell out. I put in the new one and reinstalled the screws and clipped in the electrical connections. The insulation material in the door was wet because I had not sopped up all the undrained water from the dishwasher before rotating it onto its face for the prior repair. I mounted a hair dryer to blow on it for couple hours until it was totally dry, then I reassembled the door and turned back on the water and the electrical breaker. I ran an empty load, no problem, so I loaded it with dirty dishes and ran my normal cycle. Everything is clean and no more nE code. Thankfully, I had watched some repair videos on a competitor site that ended up not having my soap dispenser in stock. The video I was sent along with my purchase from this site told me I needed to remove all kinds of stuff inside the dishwasher before turning over and removing the motor underneath. All that would have been unnecessary, but I only knew that by chance having viewed multiple other repair videos. Patrick H Minnesota City , MN December 22, 2016 Door broke off soap dispenser It went really well. I expected it to take an hour or more. I had it done in 30 minutes. Make sure you shut off power first. I had my son help hold the door as I took off the front panel. That helped a lot. David M Lafayette Hill , PA August 03, 2019 LG soap dispenser was not opening I swapped in the new part, it's pretty simple. You just need a short philips head (or small ratchet) and a normal philips head. A power screwdriver is even better. Be careful, I managed to cut my finger on the stainless steel outer section of the dishwasher while doing this repair. Removing the outer cover/section is the hardest part.
