Description

The Defrost Heater is an OEM part for LG French door refrigerators. It is an electrical heating element located inside the fridge compartment or freezer that automatically activates to melt frost and ice buildup during defrost cycles. Subject to temperatures cycling between warm and cold, the heater coil must withstand expansion stresses. 

Symptoms of a bad defrost heater include:

  • Accumulating frost that decreases available storage space over time  
  • Extended defrost periods not fully melting all accumulated ice
  • Buzzing or clicking coming from the refrigerator compartment 

Causes can be cracks in the heater coil's insulation allowing moisture to penetrate over many years of use. Replace with this new OEM LG defrost heater to ensure automatic removal of frost for fresher food storage. It is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore French door models.

My coils were frozen in my freezer.

I ordered the heating coil and all the sensors. It did not take long to fix and is working great now. The cord for the sensors was too short so I spliced it and made it work.
