Russell S Moultonboro , NH January 06, 2025 Appliance: Model LG LMV2031BD Our lg lmv2031bd otr microwave started making scraping and clunking noises but continued to work fine otherwise Looked online and found that someone had experienced the same issue and had replaced the cooling fan assembly for the magnetron. I ordered the parts for the assembly (motor, fan, and support), and replaced them and this fixed the problem. It took about 10 minutes to replace the parts, but lowering the unit and disassembly took around 45 minutes. The most difficult part was getting the outer sheet metal cover back on after the repair, as it has a bunch of clips on each front edge that need to slide into the front panel frame. That took an hour of trial and error and a small amount of persuasion with a rubber mallet. Remove top front trim and side control panel. Take a picture of electrical connections.. Remove top right metal cover to expose fan motor. Replace fan motor and also fan, reuse lock washer.
