Lee H Appling , GA November 07, 2022 Appliance: Model LG MODEL LMXS27626S/00 Handle broken off ice maker door handle cover screws and rollers lost. Threaded bases for two roller screws were ~ 80% broken off. Used a short (just barely extends past the end of the roller) sheet metal screw to secure the roller in the upper sliding section of the handle (handle in place first). The head was thick enough to fill the gap between the roller and the cover. Filling that gap accurately is important. Need to keep the roller pushed into the recessed area in the door. (Do a test fit with the parts before trying to install them on the door). Turn the screw just barely enough to hold the roller. Not much "meat" for the threads to engage. The clip will hold it once everything is assembled on the door. Used double stick tape to attach two thin washers as spacers on the lower roller (the pivot point). Again, you just want to fill the gap between the rollers and the cover so the firmness of the cover will hold the roller against the door. The door has recesses for both rollers which will keep the rollers in place and bear the load once the cover is snapped in place. This is IF you have the gaps between the outsides of the rollers and the cover filled (as described above). Some experimentation is needed to accurately fill the gap between the outer edges of the rollers and the cover. Each roller has a different clearance. You may devise your own spacer arrangement but the key is to have a solid section of something between the inside of the cover and the outside edge of each roller that does not allow the rollers to move out of the recesses in the door. If you do that, clipping the cover in place secures the rollers in position. Recesses on the door take the load when the handle los=cks the door closed. So far my wife hasn't broken it and the door locks closed and ice doesn't melt and stick together. Sorry for some repetition but this worked well for me. Glad the design did not require the screws to bear the load. The fix is pretty easy. Figuring out the best way to do it took most of my time. If I haven't made the point already, it's all about getting the right thickness spacers in place.
