Robert S Surprise , AZ June 04, 2026 Appliance: Model LG WM3001HWA Front bearings failed and rear outer tub assembly failed washer sounded like a really loud jet engine during spin cycle After almost 17 years, my washer began to sound like a jet engine was flying through the house, VERY loud during the spin cycle. The front bearings were shot, meaning the seal on the outer tub had failed. After tearing the washer apart, I found that the rear outer tub assembly had stress cracks throughout, and was near to a catastrophic failure. No fixing that one! I struggled to find a rear outer tub assembly I could actually afford. eBay prices one used ones were good, but they wanted almost $500 for shipping! I tracked down some superceded part numbers, and came up with the part from LG Parts, but they were backordered for at least a month. Then I found AppliancePartsPros.com. BAM! They had the correct outer tub assembly and the new gasket, in stock, and a great shipping price. Shipping was lightning fast. Perfect service, the parts showed up on a Sunday! The factory bearings were already installed in this assembly, all of the applicable hoses were installed, the seal lip was pre-greased, even the rear shock absorber was already installed. I had already cleaned everything that I needed to reinstall, and prepped the basket shaft to receive the new seal, so I carefully reassembled the washer, taking my time to make sure everything was done just right. I wanted no leaks! Now I have an almost brand new 17 year-old washer, and my laundry is cleaner and fresher than it has been in years! AppliancePartsPros.com really came through for me. For LG bearing replacement, I found this fantastic video detailing the process. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5FjmK0yYFk To remove the inner drum shaft from the bearings, and to remove the bearings, Kroil penetrating oil did the trick, it was amazing.
