John M Fort Hood , TX September 11, 2020 Appliance: Model LG WT4801 CW Loud noises and grinding sound in my top load LG wt 4801 cwl With help from appliance parts pros video, I was able to remove and replace the bearing/clutch assembly. While I had the assemble removed I remove the water pump cleaned and replaced it. The hoses were good and I did not need to replace them however I did not properly apply the hose clamp to the tub and it separated when I was ready to start it again. Cleaned up the mess remove the back cover and properly clamped the tub hose. The machine operated without noise and ran great. However after wash loads a new grinding started. I stopped and emptied the load let it drain and removed the agitator and found the draw nut loosened. After reapplying it nut I tighten it as much as it would go using a hammer and pipe wrench, reapplied the agitator and cap and ran another 2 loads and the same noise began again. The draw nut loosened. I reapplied using the red Locktite nut and bolt thread lock on draw nut and agitator bolt. And I pray it did the trick. If I do need to retighten again I purchased a socket for the nut and 3/4 to 1/2 inch adapter to use my 1/2" ratchet. If you decide to clean your pump I recommend replacing the pump hoses. I am going to order and replace the hoses and clamps within 3 months and will do this annually as preventative maintenance and replace the draw nut (using my new socket with my !/2" ratchet) and replace the agitator screw at the same time using locktight RED.
