Description

This is a shear bolt, also known as a shear pin, which is used in many models of snowblowers. The shear bolt connects the auger shaft to the auger on the tool. This connection allows the augers to rotate, collecting snow and sending it to the impeller fan. Most snowblowers have at least one shear pin on each side of the auger gearcase. Large objects that get stuck between the housing and augers can damage the pins, necessitating replacement.If there is damage to the shear bolt or if it has broken, the snowblower may not work as expected. To replace the bolt, the snowblower should be turned off. Wear work gloves and remove the spark plug wire before disassembling the snowblower to reach the shear bolt.
