Description

The part listed is an MTD upper boom assembly. An upper boom assembly is manufactured for installation on various brands of string trimmers. The boom assembly is made up of the upper and lower assemblies, respectively. The purpose of the upper boom assembly on a string trimmer is to help power the trimmer head. Essentially, the boom assembly acts as the driveshaft of the string trimmer. The boom assembly can also be unlocked and extended, allowing the string trimmer to reach further distances or heightened elevations. When the boom assembly becomes damaged, the string trimmer may not function as a working unit. There is a possibility the machine still powers but still has issues with the trimmer head. To install, remove the handle assembly of the string trimmer. There are several screws and an anti-rotation screw that make up this assembly. Remove the trigger and trigger springs, and pull the handle assembly away from the throttle cable. Remove the anti-rotation screw from the shaft of the trimmer and loosen the clamp. This should allow the shaft to be separated from the motor. Repeat these steps in reverse to install the new boom assembly.This product is a genuine OEM part sourced directly from MTD.
