Description

This lower drive shaft housing is an authentic OEM replacement part that is sourced directly from the manufacturer. It is sometimes called the lower boom assembly of a trimmer. It is a metal tube that the gearbox is attached to for operating the trimmer. Over time, the lower drive shaft may become damaged by debris and contact with stationary trees and limbs. If the housing is damaged, it should be removed and replaced before the trimmer is used. A screwdriver is needed to replace the lower drive shaft housing. Remove the spark plug from the trimmer for safety. Use the screwdriver to remove the screw connecting the upper and lower shaft. Locate the button on the lower shaft and push it in to remove the lower shaft from the upper shaft. Take the screw out of the gearbox and separate it from the shaft. Attach the gearbox to the shaft and push the shaft into the upper shaft until the button clicks. Insert the screw and tighten.This lower drive shaft housing is a black metal part that is sold individually. It does not come with any hardware. The lower drive shaft housing is designed to be used with trimmers manufactured by MTD and Craftsman.
