Description

This is an MTD drive idle bracket. The drive idle bracket holds the drive idle pulley in place. This pulley is a part of the drive belt system and works to engage the clutch/brake. When the clutch/brake system begins to malfunction, this could signify a drive idle pulley problem. The drive idle bracket can wear out over time leading to problems. If the idle bracket is not fastening the pulley properly, the pulley may move, causing the belt to jump off the pulley. When this happens, the clutch/brake system is not able to be engaged. For proper clutch engagement and braking, the bracket and idle pulley should be in satisfactory condition. The deck and wheels may need to be removed to install this component. Wear gloves for safety whenever working anywhere near the blade area of the lawn mower. Once the drive belt system can be accessed, the belt will need to be removed.
