Description

This connecting rod assembly is part of the piston engine that connects the piston to the crankshaft and works to rotate the crankshaft. If the connecting rod breaks or is damaged, the engine will not run. If the engine is making loud noises, has low oil pressure, or is using a lot of oil, the connecting rod should be inspected as it may be failing. If the connecting rod breaks during engine operation, the engine could be severely damaged by the rod jamming itself in the cylinder. Replace the connecting rod at the first sign of damage. This repair requires removing the engine. Make sure the engine is cool, and the mower is on a flat surface. Wear work gloves and safety goggles when repairing the mower. Use the diagram to remove the engine and locate the connecting rod assembly. Remove and replace the damaged rod. Inspect all parts as the mower is put back together.
