This is a metal extension spring used on a lawn tractor's brake rod assembly. It provides the tension needed to return the brake rod to its resting position after the brake pedal is released. Replace this spring if the brake pedal feels loose, does not return to position on its own, or the spring is visibly stretched, corroded, or broken.
