Description

This genuine MTD ignition switch provides an outlet into which the key of the log splitter or chipper shredder can be inserted; then, the ignition coil carries the electrical voltage to the spark plugs, which ignite in order to turn on the engine. This OEM replacement ignition switch might have to be ordered if there is damage to the ignition switch that precludes the key from fitting into the switch or can no longer carry the voltage in order to turn on the engine. From general wear and tear or overexposure in the lifespan of a small engine appliance, the ignition switch material can get gradually stripped away and lose its ability to transmit electricity. If this is the case, a replacement should be ordered immediately, and the log splitter or chipper shredder cannot be used until the broken or damaged part has been removed and replaced.
