Description

The impeller on a snowblower is part of the system that sends the snow out of the machine and out of the path that is being cleared. The snow is pulled into the blower by the auger, which pushes the snow to the impeller. The impeller spins to send the snow on out the discharge chute. If the impeller stops working, the snow that is picked up will not be discharged, and the auger will stop working due to built-up snow. The easiest and most obvious way to diagnose a bad impeller is a lack of snow being discharged. If this happens, the impeller needs to be replaced. Remove the snowblowers bucket from the housing and then disassemble the belt pulley. Remove the screws from the auger carriers to access the auger and impeller assembly. Locate the screws and remove them to remove the assembly. Install the new impeller, then reassemble the snowblower with reversal of the steps. Start the snowblower to ensure that it works.
