Description

This o-ring is a genuine OEM part sourced from the manufacturer for use in many parts of engines in lawn and garden equipment. The o-ring is a type of gasket but is not flat like a gasket. It is circular and made of rubber. It is seated in a groove on the engine part and is compressed against another part to create a seal. This seal keeps air and fluids from entering or exiting the sealed part. Like gaskets, o-rings must be periodically inspected and replaced to ensure proper engine performance.Visual inspection of o-rings will reveal nicks, indentions, cuts, or tears on the surface of the o-ring. If the rubber has warped due to excessive heat, it will not fit properly and will need to be replaced. The replacement may not require tools, depending on the location of the rubber gasket. Remove the bad o-ring and wipe both sides of the area to remove the old grease. Apply fresh grease to the o-ring before installing it to ensure a tight seal. Press the new o-ring firmly in the groove before attaching the connecting part.
