Description

This is an MTD drive pulley. The drive pulley sends power from the engine to the transmission, propelling the lawn mower forward or backward. This propelling is done through the use of a drive belt and drive pulley. When the drive pulley malfunctions on a lawn mower, it loses the ability to send power from the engine to the transmission. This prevents the lawn mower from being able to move forward or backward. Typically the mower will continue to start; however, engaging the gears will not trigger a response. Start the drive pulley repair by removing the deck of the lawn mower. Always make sure the battery is disconnected. Loosen the transaxle pulley with a socket wrench. Relieve tension from the upper drive belt by disconnecting the spring from the anchor rope. Remove the upper drive belt and lawn mower belt guide. Take the belt off the variable speed pulley and remove the belt securing the crankshaft pulley. Repeat these steps in reverse to install the new pulley.This part is compatible with Craftsman, MTD, Troy-Bilt, and Yard-Man brand lawn mowers.
