Kelly B Hamburg , IL June 09, 2018 Transmission pulley 2013 for mtd/yard machines lawn tractor I had the transmission pulley wear and strip off the hub on top of gearbox after 5 years of heavy use on this machine. What I mean is my yard is very big and is primarily hills I assume this is what caused the failure over time. I ordered the new pulley and hub from appliance parts pros once arrived, I first removed battery then its hangers, then removed the cutting deck. Use a string to remove tension spring on top drive belt assembly take belt off transmission pulley. Mine actually spun off when the pulley stripped, but I found it, and removed the old pulley and hub off shaft. It came up out of rear end gearbox, I slide new hub all the way down with gear hub facing up. Then I place new pulley flat side up like factory one, then locked the nut down. Don't forget to use string to re install the tension spring on top drive belt once belt is in place and pulley is installed. At this point you can drop the battery back in. After hangers are put in, then install cutting deck. Mowed my yard day after part came, as well as my fathers yard and its working great.
