Description
The recoil starter assembly is comprised of the housing, the recoil spring, the starter pulley, the starter rope, and the plastic starter grip. It creates the motion that spins the flywheel to engage the engine. The grip is pulled, which extends the rope and activates the starter spring, which then engages the starter pulley and the flywheel, respectively. Over time, various components of the recoil starter can become damaged or worn with regular use. This is often going to require a replacement and in most cases, it will be easier to replace the entire assembly than a single component. This genuine OEM recoil starter is manufactured by MTD and is made to exact standards. It can be used with more than 150 MTD engines on lawn equipment, including from brands like Craftsman, Bolens, Yard-Man, Yard Machines, Remington, Husky, RYOBI, and Cub Cadet. This replacement assembly includes a limited parts warranty and includes all components: the plastic housing, starter pulley, pull rope, starter grip, and starter spring. The hardware for securing this housing is sold separately.
