Description

To hold the wheels in place and keep them at the proper height, lawn mowers require front and rear axles. This axle is a Craftsman part that will be compatible with virtually all mowers that use Craftsman's specifications. While the axle is durable, it's also the case that the most common problem with lawn mowers is encountering obstacles and barriers while mowing. Not only are blades and flywheels damaged, but it is often the case that axles are bent or broken so the mower cannot be pushed or the wheels cannot be made level. In such cases, it's necessary to replace the damaged axle. Replacing the axle is a matter of removing the wheels with a socket wrench and a 9/16 socket and setting the mower on its side. Make sure to place the air filter on top rather than on the bottom. Use a flathead screwdriver to force back the retaining tabs and remove the axle. When installing the new axle, make certain that the adjustment bar is placed on the right side of the axle housing. Reverse the removal process to reassemble.
