Description

The starter pawl, also known as the recoil pawl, the starter dog, or the starter recoil pawl, is part of the starter assembly on small engines that use a pull-start operation. The pawl is engaged when pulling the starter rope and engaging the starter spring. Then, the pawl causes the flywheel to spin and start the engine.
