Description

This durable plastic ratchet pawl is used on select engines that feature what is known as a Susa starter. In this configuration, the ratchet pawl will be responsible for engaging the recoil starting system. Then, the starting system will allow the engine to fire. Over time, the pawl can become worn or damaged due to regular use. If this happens, the recoil can slip and cause difficulties with starting the engine. If the engine isn’t starting or you can hear it slipping when you try to fire it up, a replacement ratchet pawl could be needed. Be sure to allow the engine to cool before replacing any parts or doing any work and always wear gloves.
