Description

This is a push rod designed to work in a lawnmower engine. Push rods serve a vital purpose in internal combustion engines. When combustion occurs, it creates not just heat and energy, but also exhaust gases. The push rod helps vent those gases so they don't choke the engine out. The push rod attaches to the camshaft, and, as the shaft turns, the rod opens the exhaust valve. Push rods are subject to high temperatures, as well as wear and tear. They can also be damaged if the engine stops unexpectedly. Bent or otherwise damaged push rods can compromise engine performance, reduce power, or even result in engine failure and cause damage to other parts.
