Description

This is a recoil starter for small engines. While primarily used for Briggs & Stratton small engines, it’s also sometimes used on Toro machines and other tools in the Briggs & Stratton family. It sports a glossy black case, tough enough to stand up to a hard day’s work, but also cool enough for close contact. A recoil starter houses the recoil string as well as a driver mechanism. The string is wound around a spring-loaded coil and attached to an ergonomic plastic handle. When the handle is pulled, the string pulls the driver mechanism, which drives the machine motor and causes it to start. In most cases, a broken recoil is easy to fix; a string replacement is all that’s required. If the entire assembly is broken, the repair is relatively simple. First, the original recoil starter will need to be unscrewed and removed. Next, the new recoil starter needs to be inserted and screwed in.
