Our dryer didn't heat Larry L. • Poway , CA • November 10, 2014
Being a complete DIY I hate to call some unknown person into my home knowing that just to get them there will cost me more than I will spend for parts that I don't need. After all, they are trying to make a living and by selling me parts that I don't need will increase their profits.
I've dealt with APP before and was impressed by their site because I could find both mechanical and electrical drawings for almost everything I have.
I looked up my dryer, decided what was probably the problem,...

Clothes getting stuck in front of dryer then later on a grinding and loud noise when spinning Michael G. • Chicago , IL • August 23, 2020
I'm new to how a dryer works, so I just started taking it apart to see what exactly was causing it. The video examples on the APP website were all amazing. It gave me a good idea of what I was getting into and showed me the common repair issues. The dryer being 12 years old, I was on the fence about repairing or replacing. However, once I got a list of parts I might need and getting the confidence by watching the videos, I said "what have I got to lose."
The cause of the scraping and loud...

The Ignitor Assembly is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire dryers. It serves as the ignition source safely firing up burners to initiate drying cycles.
Causes usually relate to the continual thermal shock experienced from heating and then rapidly cooling over extended use. As a foundational safeguard, ignitors require OEM replacement when arcing declines.
Symptoms of a faulty ignitor can include:
- The dryer fails to start or stop heating intermittently
- Cycles taking overly long to complete or feel uneven
- Excessive service calls relating to "no heat" troubles
- Risk of uncombusted gas pooling in dryer if ignition falters
This Frigidaire OEM replacement part is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and some Kenmore models.

Gas smell in the dryer after a cycle completed no smell outside the dryer (until i opened the door!) Matthew M. • Mcfarland , WI • April 25, 2016
Frigidaire Gallery gas dryer from maybe 15 years ago. Based on the fact the the smell was only in the dryer, I concluded it must be the gas valve failing to completely seal when closed. After looking at the insides again, I suppose it is possible that it was a connection near the burner, but that stuff had remained untouched for 10 years so I still think I made a good assumption. I got a new ignitor as well since I was in there, and compared to the valve, it was cheap! I thought I could get in...

The dryer vent close elbow connects and redirects the exhaust ductwork at tight angles, typically located where the vent exits the dryer or building. Replace if you notice reduced airflow, lint buildup, visible damage, or if the connection becomes loose or detached.

It turned out that the vent from dryer to outside had a build up of lint causing the thermal fuse to blow Wallis M. • Somerset , KY • February 20, 2017
I went on line and to get info on what to do, which was to test the 3 components on the heating element assembly. No reading on the thermal fuse indicated it had blown. That and cleaning out the vent system (which is to be done yearly) solved the problem. I thank God that the fuse blew or the lint would have caught fire. CLEAN OUT THAT VENT YEARLY

Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: 4396009RP
This 5-foot flexible aluminum vent hose is a bendable, accordion-style exhaust duct that connects your dryer's exhaust outlet to the wall vent, allowing for easy routing around obstacles in tight laundry spaces. The flexible design lets you position the dryer close to the wall even when the vent connection is not perfectly aligned. Replace this hose if it is crushed, torn, or disconnected, as a damaged hose can cause poor drying performance, excess heat buildup, or a lint fire hazard.
