1: loud noise on freezer side. 2: no water dispensing Matt M. • Pickett , WI • February 05, 2021
1. After hearing a loud noise on the freezer side of unit about halfway up, I started investigating what it could be? My conclusion was evaporator motor or evaporator fan blade. One of the signs of this issue was a distinct change in sound when I opened the freezer door. I ordered a new motor and blade, not knowing exactly what it was.
2. I couldn't get water to dispense, so I changed the filter and that wasn't the problem. I ordered a water valve and crossed my fingers. These parts arrived...

The Defrost Thermostat is an OEM part for Frigidaire refrigerators. It monitors the temperature of the evaporator coils and activates the defrost heater when necessary. This process prevents frost buildup on the coils, ensuring the refrigerator maintains optimal cooling efficiency.
You should replace the defrost thermostat if it becomes faulty or damaged. Common causes of a bad defrost thermostat include electrical failures, regular wear and tear, or temperature fluctuations that can degrade the component over time.
Symptoms of a bad defrost thermostat include:
- Excessive frost buildup on the evaporator coils

Once I purchased the correct motor it literally took less that 10 minutes from start to finish to replace the motor. After unplugging the refrigerator, I unscrewed two machine screws to remove the cover and unscrewed two machine screws to remove the motor. I removed the old motor from the housing, installed the new motor, reattached the motor to the refrigerator, replaced the cover, and plugged in the refrigerator. Installation was quick and simple. Missed good old fashioned ice trays Cheryl S. • Mesa , AZ • September 30, 2018
Just missed having decent ice trays. The only ones I could find were either:
1. Expensive
2. Flimsy - only lasted a couple of months
3. Silicone-bottomed that half the compartments leak after a few uses
These are the wonderful old fashioned kind that are easy to use and last forever. Just didn’t think I’d find them again!
