Matt M Pickett , WI February 05, 2021 Appliance: Model FR2686LFO 1: loud noise on freezer side. 2: no water dispensing 1. After hearing a loud noise on the freezer side of unit about halfway up, I started investigating what it could be? My conclusion was evaporator motor or evaporator fan blade. One of the signs of this issue was a distinct change in sound when I opened the freezer door. I ordered a new motor and blade, not knowing exactly what it was. 2. I couldn't get water to dispense, so I changed the filter and that wasn't the problem. I ordered a water valve and crossed my fingers. These parts arrived quickly and were on standby for a later time that I could tear into this project. After a few days went by I came home to see a alarm / code on the refrigerator display (SY EF) and both freezer and fridge were shut down. I looked up the code and it was a evaporator fail code. Needless to say I had to drop everything and do this repair asap with the parts I already had on hand. I had previously watched the instructional videos, so I unloaded all the items from both sides and began the repair. After getting the panels off the back of the freezer in noticed a lot of ice buildup near the evaporator motor and blade. I removed both existing parts and replaced per the instructional video. My advise would be to thaw and remove any ice buildup before putting the panels back on. I reassembled with the new parts I had ordered. I did have to fight a little with the clip on the new motor. Make sure you hear it snap together before moving on and putting the interior panels back on. As long as I had the unit pulled out I decided to change the water valve too. I installed this per the video and checked for leaks. After all this work was done, powering up, and repositioning the unit, I was dispensing water and watching the temperature on the freezer and fridge come down to optimal levels. It's fixed! Daniel G El Paso , TX January 24, 2021 Appliance: Frigidaire Freezer FFU20FC4AW1 My Frigidaire frost free commercial freezer was screeching louder than the wheels on my radio flyer red wagon when it was overloaded with 5 cent return for deposit coca cola bottles back in the 1960's In short - I replaced the evaporator fan motor and the evaporator fan blade. The Appliance Parts Pros website was extremely helpful to me. Here's how. 1. The site helped me identify that even though my Freezer says it's a Frigidaire, it's actually an Electrolux. 2. The site identified the potential screech causing parts. (I didn't take a chance, I bought all three) It was a worthwhile investment. My freezer is 20 years old so it deserved some help. 3. The site provided guidance videos (not exactly for each model but good enough to guide correctly). 4. The site delivered my parts (which were in stock) (which I paid air fare) in literally less than 24 hours. 5. The fan motor and evaporator fan were replaced first and the screeching stopped but I replaced the compressor run capacitor for good measure. 6. The repair was simple 10 each 3/4" sheet metal screws were removed and later replaced about 2 minutes combined. (holds the back metal cover over condenser coil). 7. 2 each rubber gaskets (36" long) were pulled off and pushed back in place in about 2 minutes combined. 8. 2 screws were removed from the fan motor holding chassis and tossed out. The fan came off with the motor. A new fan and motor were installed with new screws (old ones don't have the same thread - don't reuse) about 5 minutes combined. 9. Installed shelves and reloaded the freezer. 10. 1 each Philips screwdriver and 1 each 1/4" hollow shaft nut driver. No complaints from me...thank you appliance parts pros. My wife's complaint..." you made me take everything out of the freezer and place it in the refrigerator only to tell me to put it back in 10 minutes? We could have just put it on the table! Add another 20 minutes to your " "done in ten minutes honey" " 10. More than 5 Stars; much more than 5 Stars!!!! William C Richmond , IN October 31, 2015 Noisy evaporator fan Replaced fan and motor.Easy to do after watching video. After doing the repair, I am convinced that most of the noise was coming from vibration of the fan housing itself, as neither the fan blade or motor shaft was loose. Some of the foam rubber attached to the mount had come loose. But since I already already removed the old fan, I decided to complete the replacement I would have appreciated having some strips of foam with the motor kit. I spent considerable time looking for a suitable replacement. I used foam mounting tape as a substitute. The refrigerator is operating much quieter now. Thank you for the great service you provide!
