Oven not heating or baking unevenly? A faulty bake element is often the cause. This heating element restores proper baking temperature. DIY-friendly.
It took a few of us. One to vacuum up the fire extinguisher residue. One to trip the breaker. One to provide light. One to clean out under the stove while it was pulled out. Easy fix. Both elements replaced while I was at it, so all new. Figured if one went the other was going to follow. CIRCUIT BREAKER OFF. Removed the back metal panel with my nut driver for the hex head screws. Note where the panel may slip under tabs for support. Remove slip on electrical connections on upper and lower elements. Clear glass lens that protects your oven light bulb. Replace if cracked, broken, or cloudy to safely view cooking progress. Confirm fit with model number.
Tested the power to the unit by turning on the cooktop portion and saw that I had power to all of the burners. Turned the selector knob to broil and saw that the top element would heat up. I then turned off the breaker to the unit. I then decided to take out the baking element to do a continuity test. When I touched it, a 1.5 inch section fell out.
