I took some part numbers from the underneath side of the burner along with the stove model number and entered them on the internet and luckily found the part that I was looking for - I purchased it and it was delivered very quickly (faster than I expected). I took pictures of the burner before taking it apart and then removed the broken burner and replaced it with the new burner, put all the other parts back together and it worked perfectly the first time I turned it on.
