This overload is a thermal protection device that mounts on the motor/compressor and opens the circuit when excessive heat or current is detected. Replacing a weak or failed overload helps restore safe startup and protects the windings from damage. What it does:
- Monitors motor/compressor temperature and current draw
- Interrupts power on overheat/overload to prevent damage
- Aids troubleshooting of start/run issues when paired with the start device
- Common symptoms: hums then clicks off, won't start, intermittent shutdown, frequent tripping
What's included:
- 1 thermal overload protector
Install notes:
- Disconnect power before servicing; allow components to cool
- Access the terminal area on the motor/compressor; remove any cover
- Note/photograph wire positions; transfer wires and fully seat the new overload on the correct terminal
- Inspect the start relay, capacitor, and terminals for heat damage; replace any compromised parts

The Defrost Thermostat is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. This thermostat regulates the temperature within the defrost cycle, ensuring that the defrost heater activates and deactivates at the appropriate times to prevent frost buildup on the evaporator coils.
Causes of a bad defrost thermostat can include electrical failures, wear and tear over time, or damage from temperature fluctuations.
Symptoms of a bad defrost thermostat include:
- Excessive frost buildup in the freezer
- The refrigerator not maintaining proper temperature
- The defrost heater not turning on
- Water leakage inside the refrigerator
This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Freezer and refrigerator boxes not holding temperature Robert N. • Bonita Springs , FL • May 01, 2015
After running some tests I determined that the problem was a bad defrost timer. The timer
would occasionally fail to trigger the compressor to restart at the end of the defrost cycle.
Since I had the unit taken apart, I replaced the termination t-stat and the compressor start relay at the same time.
Parts came quick 1.5 days, job completed and the unit is up and running.

The plastic wheel in the ice crusher broke into pieces and the ice bucket had a crack in it Carol C. • Weatogue , CT • August 07, 2015
The bucket was an easy fix. There is a film on the website showing exactly how to replace it. The ice crusher was a bit of a problem because it had to be completely taken apart -- many small parts to put back in order!! We used the diagram from the website, plus I took photos from various angles before we took it apart. We were careful, and with patience, it went back together.
We ordered the parts on a weekend, and expected it to take a few days. The parts were sitting in our...
